No Future in It

Well talkin’ to the Gypsy, just the other day,
Gypsy looked up laughin’, said son there’s hell to pay
There’s somethings that you better do, some that you better not.
But time is tight you gotta get it right, cause things are gettin’ hot.
Well told her I’m not worried, I got an air conditioned shack.
I got a big old pool at the side of my house, got an even bigger pool in back.
Well the gypsy raised her eyebrows, slapped her knees and grinned.
With a big old smile “I kinda like your style, but it’s gonna do you in, because...”
“There’s no future in it,” that’s what the gypsy said.
“There’s no future in it,” I see cities lying dead.
“There’s no future in it,” no no nothing shall remain.
“There’s no future in it,” I see fire in the rain
Then the gypsy said “Just step outside, you don’t even need a crystal ball.”
Just open them eyes up nice and wide, the writin’s on the wall.”
See water risin’ around your feet, can’t hear that thunderin’ crack,
Lightnin’s leaping down the street, and the hurricanes comin’ back, it’s clear...”
Like lyin’ to your brother, or cheatin’ on your lover
There’s no future in it.
Like politcal hacks and necrophiliacs.
There’s no future in it.
Like slavery and depravery
There’s no future in it
Pollutin the soil or killlin’ for oil.
There’s no future in it
There’s no future in it
Well the gypsy kept on laughing, I guess you didn’t get a clue
But I must confess that I’ve done my best, now the rest is up to you.
Then just like that she disappeared long gone out of sight.
But every now and then I’m wonderin’ if the gypsy might be right. That there’s...
“There’s no future in it,”….
